At 6:45 am on April 18, 2014, a 14 million ton block of ice crashed down onto the most treacherous part of the route leading to the summit of the world’s tallest mountain.  Sixteen Sherpas were killed.  It was the worst tragedy in the history of Mount Everest, provoking a tense reappraisal about the role of Sherpas in the lucrative Everest industry.  SHERPA tells the emotional story of how, in the face of fierce opposition, the Sherpas united in grief and anger to reclaim the mountain they call Chomolungma.  Australian director Jennifer Peedom and her film crew were at base camp when the disaster occurred. Spectacular, jaw-dropping visuals and a dramatic storyline combine to make this an unforgettable, edge-of-your seat experience.
