Return to Virtual Cinema

Academy award nominee Dante Spinotti has brought his unique cinematic eye to more than sixty films including LA Confidential, Heat, The Insiders, Manhunter, Public Enemies, and The Last of the Mohicans.  Producer Dino De Laurentiis first recognized Spinotti’s talent, bringing him to the U.S. from Italy in 1986 to shoot Manhunter.   Spinotti’s latest film, I Saw The Light, about country music singer Hank Williams, screens at the festival and features some of his best work.

Following the screening of clips from some of some of Spinotti’s most memorable films, John Horn, host of KPCC’s The Frame, will talk with him about his craft, finding the visual language of a story, and working with directors like Michael Mann, Garry Marshall and Michael Apted.
