It took ten years and a Kickstarter campaign for Charlie Kaufman, the acclaimed screenwriter of Being John Malkovich, Adaptation, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, to complete Anomalisa. Kaufman uses stop-motion figures, who speak in the same monotone voice, for his inventive tale of Michael Stone, a motivational speaker trapped inside a meaningless life.  On business in Cincinnati, Stone meets two women who have come to hear him speak.  He’s instantly attracted to the voice of one of them. Her name is Lisa - and she’s an anomaly.  Back in his room, she sings him a Cindy Lauper song.  What transpires is something very real and tender. Kaufman and co-director Duke Johnson are getting rave reviews from festival-goers worldwide, recently winning the Grand Jury Prize at the 2015 Venice Film Festival.
